Human Rights Protection Strategy

The Company operates in strict compliance with the Russian legislation, the Social Charter of Russian Business and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and recognises the importance and value of the fundamental human rights and freedoms proclaimed by the UN, including freedom of association, recognition of the right to collective bargaining, labour rights, the right to a healthy environment, health protection, and the rights of indigenous peoples.

The Company is also guided by the requirements of the International Labour Organization and the UN Global Compact in the field of human rights.

The Company's human rights principles are reflected in Rosneft's Code of Business and Corporate Ethics and the Company's Sustainable Development Policy. All employees of Rosneft and the Group Companies are familiarized with the content of the Code of Business and Corporate Ethics, including information on respect for human rights.

In addition, Rosneft requires compliance with Russian labour laws, including health and safety requirements, as part of its cooperation with its suppliers and contractors in Russia.  The Company's standard approaches are used as a basis for foreign assets and local procedures are developed in accordance with local legislation.

The Company has the necessary procedures in place to promptly respond to human rights complaints and grievances. The key instruments in this area are a security hotline and a business ethics hotline. Hotline calls are accepted from both the Company's employees and any other stakeholder representatives (written statements are accepted in all the local languages of the areas where the Company operates). The company guarantees confidentiality and security of the messages. Ethical issues, including human rights aspects, can also be discussed through the use of ethics experts working in the vast majority of the Group's companies.

All instances information on which is collected through these feedback tools are subject to due diligence procedures.
