Bashneft Recycles Over 30% of «Historical Legacy» Oil Waste

15 May 2023

Bashneft (part of Rosneft) recycled more than 30% of «historical legacy» oil waste in 2020-2022. About 570,000 tonnes of oil sludge have been disposed of in the last three years.

Environment protection is an integral part of Rosneft Oil Company’s corporate culture and one of the key principles of its business. As part of Rosneft’s 2030 strategy, the Company is improving its approach to environment-oriented management, increasing the scale of environmental activities and securing the necessary investments. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production.

Bashneft’s environmental investments allow it to significantly reduce the amount of «historical legacy» oil sludge each year and to ensure full disposal of newly generated waste from its operations.

Disposal is carried out at specialised sites using state-of-the-art technology that has undergone a government environmental impact assessment.

In addition to processing oil sludge, Bashneft is also actively involved in land reclamation, including the complete restoration of the fertile layer. In three years, the enterprise has reclaimed 30 hectares of land.
